Why Become Certified?
CompTIA certification programs are the recognised industry standards for foundation-level information technology (IT) skills. Best known for the A+ certification, CompTIA offers many certifications in key technology areas. Many of our certifications are electives or prerequisites toward advanced certifications, such as Microsoft's MCSA and Novell's CNE.
How To Certify
In order to become CompTIA certified, applicants must pass one or more certification tests. The courses in EXCOM's CompTIA certification training programs are available for those applicants who need instruction to prepare for the tests.

Pass both the A+ HW and A+ OS exams

CompTIA Certification Benefits
A+
Earning CompTIA A+ certification proves that a candidate has a broad base of knowledge and competency in core hardware and operating system technologies including installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and basic networking.
Network +
Earning a CompTIA Network+ certification demonstrates that a candidate can describe the features and functions of networking components, and possesses the knowledge and skills needed to install, configure and troubleshoot basic networking hardware, protocols and services. The exam tests technical ability in the areas of media and topologies, protocols and standards, network implementation, and network support. The exam also covers new technologies such as wireless networking and gigabit Ethernet.
Project +
CompTIA Project+ validates the knowledge required to effectively manage information technology-related projects throughout the entire project life cycle. The exam incorporates IT project management concepts, including important soft skills such as conflict resolution, negotiation, communication, team building/leadership and setting and mapping expectations.
Linux +
Earning the CompTIA Linux+ designation means that the candidate can explain fundamental open source resources/licenses, demonstrate knowledge of user administration, understand file permissions/software configurations and manage local storage devices and network protocols.
Security +
Earning a CompTIA Security+ certification provides individuals with a recognised industry credential that offers proof of knowledge and expertise in security topics, such as communication security, infrastructure security, cryptography, access control, authentication, external attack and operational and organization security.
Who Can Be Certified
Anyone can become CompTIA certified. Typically this includes independent service organisations, or anyone using CompTIA products. To become certified, technicians must posses a working knowledge of personal computers and the relevant software and then complete a series of demanding certification tests. CompTIA accredited people are recognised as highly qualified individuals.
Certification Testing
To register for a test, call your nearest EXCOM branch and everything will be arranged for you. When you call let the EXCOM staff member know that you want to register for a Microsoft proficiency test and have the following information available:
- Your testing ID number (first time applicants are assigned one)
- Test name or number
- Date and time you wish to take the test
- Current credit card
